Not medical advice
Everything on this site is educational information about how weight regulation works in general. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it is not a treatment plan. It does not replace a consultation with a doctor or a registered dietitian, and nothing here should be used to change medication or to manage a medical condition.
Who this site is not for
- People under 18. Growing bodies have different needs, and adult formulas applied to a child are wrong in ways that matter. Nothing here is written for minors.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding. Weight goals in pregnancy and after birth are a matter for the care team.
- A history of an eating disorder. Rules about eating, counting and weighing — even sensible ones — can be harmful. If this applies to you, please speak to a professional before using any of this material, and treat the pages that say "not for you if…" as meant literally.
- A medical condition that affects eating — diabetes on medication, kidney disease, gout, a heart condition, among others. The general figures on this site do not account for it.
Where to go instead
A general practitioner or a registered dietitian is the right first step in every case above. If you are in Bulgaria and need urgent help with an eating disorder, ask your GP for a referral to a specialist eating-disorder service; in an emergency, call 112.
What we promise anyway
That every number is sourced, that the source's limits are stated, that nothing here is designed to make you feel guilty, and that we correct ourselves in public. Those are editorial promises, not clinical ones.
